As the Managing Director at Warner Music Thailand, Karl is focused on empowering and amplifying Thailand's unique musical voices for the world to appreciate. He joined Warner Music Thailand in November 2017 and has overseen the transformation of the affiliate from a marketing and distribution center for WMG's international repertoire to a fully-functioning, locally relevant, dynamic and future focused domestic label. This domestic focus has helped Warner Music Thailand grow its roster from 6 to 20 artists under 3 distinct imprints: Warner Music Thailand, for established mainstream acts; Wayfer Records, a hothouse for up and coming indie and pop artists; and D.U.M.B. Recordings, cultivating a new urban sound. In addition, the label has just launched a new incubator program, WAVS, with 30 artists signed to development deals, entered into a local T-Pop JV with new label XOXOCity, and expanded its distribution services, giving local labels and indie artists the support and representation they need with our streaming partners. Prior to this role, Karl spent over 16 years in advertising, communications, design and public relations, first with J. Walter Thompson Bangkok where he worked on both Thai and Multinational brands and also co-founded a sister agency, Degree Bangkok, a design-centric center of excellence serving J. Walter Thompson offices in the region. He then moved to Leo Burnett Bangkok where he helped establish their Public Relations division MSLGroup Thailand. |
