Producer/mixer/guitarist, Ronan Chris Murphy began his musical career at the age of 15, “singing” in a hardcore punk band in Washington D.C scene (His first band was also the first band of Dave Grohl, but Dave joined right after Ronan quit to start a new band). After several years of performing and touring with various bands in a scene that later became know as grunge with his bands sharing the stage with the likes of Dinosaur Jr., All, The Flaming lips, Gwar, Death Angel and the Rollins Band, he began to focus on record production and mixing, and soon became the man behind the boards for some of the worlds greatest and most prestigious musicians across the spectrum of music genres. From jazz, rock, and progressive to folk, pop, classical or world music he has worked with many of the best of the best.

From lush singer songwriter productions to jaw dropping virtuoso albums, Ronan has helped some of the greatest artists in the world push the envelope and take their music visions to the next level.

His life in recording has focused on the art and craft of making records. His creative and artist friendly approach to recording has been called for around the world. He has worked on three continents with artists from Dozens of different countries. His productions have received wide critical acclaim, been featured in films and television, won awards and and had chart success around the world.

As a producer, engineer and/or mixer, Ronan Chris Murphy has worked with the likes of King Crimson (several albums), Steve Morse (Dixie Dreggs Deep Purple), Terry Bozzio (Zappa, Missing Persons), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, John Lennon, Pink Floyd)), Martin Sexton, Jamie Walters, Ulver, The California Guitar Trio, Chucho Valdes y Groupo Irakere, Joan LaBarbara (Philip Glass Ensemble, Steve Reich) Nels Cline (Wilco) as well as various side projects involving members of Tool, Ministry, Weezer Dishwalla, and Yes.

He continues to collaborate with artists as a songwriter and musician and perform his own music with Lives of the Saints (with Bill Forth) and will soon release his first solo album featuring Tony Levin, Terry Bozzio, Pat Mastelotto and Mike Keneally. Murphy was a charter member of the Music Producers Guild of the Americas, and a contributing writer for the Grammy newsletter, and several magazines. He has been an invited speaker and panelist at SXSW (South by Southwest), NXNW (North by Northwest), The Action Poetry Festival, the International Organ Festival, The Taxi Road Rally, 2NMC and the ICMC (International Computer Music Conference), served as musical director for the Paris based Ka Ti Ma dance company, a producer in residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts, twice invited to the composers symposium of the Oregon Bach Festival, and received a grant to research interactive music technology at the Stiem Institute in Amsterdam.

In addition to his extensive production and mixing and work he also owns a commercial studio in Los Angeles called Veneto West runs a series of international recording workshops called Home Recording Boot Camp, and consults for clients and companies around the globe.
